CPS Selective Enrollment

This exam is taken by students who want to go to Selective Enrollment High Schools in Chicago.

We strongly recommend that students begin tutoring for these tests the summer before 8th grade.

How does the admissions process work?

CPS uses a 900-point system for selective admissions, based on three factors:

  1. 300 points for grades from 7th grade.
  2. 300 points for 7th grade standardized test scores. Students must have received  scores of 5 or higher on both the reading and math sections to even qualify to take the CPS Selective Enrollment Exam.
  3. 300 points for the CPS Selective Enrollment Exam.
