ISEE
The upper level ISEE stands for the Independent School Entrance Examination and is used for admissions into private, independent schools. In Chicago, there are six independent schools that accept the ISEE: Francis Parker, The Latin school, University of Chicago Lab School, Morgan Park Academy, Chicago Academy for the Arts, and Avery Coonley School.
Since the ISEE is a challenging test, we recommend students take a pre-test in spring of 7th grade.
What makes this test tough?
- Since it’s taken by 8th – 11th graders, test content goes up to 11th grade!
- The vocabulary on this test is similar to vocabulary on the SAT.
- The math section includes both algebra and geometry.
- The reading passages are quite advanced for 8th graders.
