EXPLORE
The EXPLORE test is often used for placement into classes at public high schools. It is essentially an 8th grade version of the ACT.
What’s on the EXPLORE test?
The EXPLORE test has four sections, each 30 minutes long:
- English
- Math
- Reading
- Science
When do I take the EXPLORE test?
Individual school districts determine exact dates, but the EXPLORE is generally taken sometime between October and January.
What other factors go into my class placement?
When determining your class placement, high schools may also consider your grades, teacher recommendations, and parent input.
Has your child already taken the EXPLORE test?
If your child has already taken this test, you can send us the results. We’ll analyze the results and provide specific recommendations of areas where your child could improve before he or she moves on to high school.
Our son can’t believe he got every math problem correct on the EXPLORE! We are very pleased because he was placed in all honors classes! Thanks for all your help.”
